Oregon VFW Post 8739 releases information on Christmas food baskets

Oregon VFW Post 8739 is preparing its annual Christmas food baskets for local families and individuals in need. Last year, the post delivered over 120 baskets to area residents.Those wishing to receive a basket must follow these guidelines:To apply, individuals or families must call the VFW directly at 815-732-6851 to be placed on the list. You must provide your complete name, address and phone number. You must call to apply even if you received a basket in previous years.Sign-up dates: Calls will be accepted starting Nov. 16. The absolute deadline to sign up is Dec. 4. Please call between 4 and 8 p.m. Monday through Friday.Baskets will be delivered the morning of Saturday, Dec. 19. An adult must be home to receive the delivery.Donations needed: To help continue the vital community program, donations from the general public and local businesses are always needed and greatly appreciated.
